Shandong SEM Machinery Co. (SEM) has received multiple recognitions from the Qingzhou municipal government, including two awards for being the "Enterprise with Outstanding Contribution in 2010" and "Excellent Enterprise in Foreign Trade." In addition, Paul Blackburn, SEM Chairman and Managing Director, was named "Outstanding Entrepreneur of Qingzhou" for the second consecutive year, and "Corporate Legal Representative of Dynamic Management and Services."
These awards highlighted major achievements SEM accomplished in the past year. Driven by the "Win in China" strategy, SEM achieved a record year in terms of sales and revenue, profit growth, and export volume for both machines and parts. The Qingzhou facility was able to make a much bigger contribution to local economy with its stellar business performance, including over 60 percent increase in sales and revenue, and a near six-fold jump in profits, both compared with 2009, a year hard hit by the global economic crisis.
Underpinning SEM's success was a host of actions that the facility took in 2010 when it expanded and updated the distribution channels, added new product lines, focused on lean manufacturing, and making efforts to respond to customer demand at a much faster pace.
